That's what my friend Erin called this weekend, because a friend of mine was in town, and he wanted "Chicago from a Chicagoan's perspective," although he picked out some of the stuff we did.
Here are the highlights, and the reviews:
Brazzaz is a Brazilian Steakhouse. They bring the meats to your table and slice it off for you. We were able to partake in a lunch special for $20, although it is normally in the $50/person range. It was a solid B. Good food, but the meat was not really seasoned very well. I enjoyed the sides more than the meat. I don't think it's worth the money if you don't get a special.
The Wendella Boat combined River and Lake tour is my favorite Chicago attraction. I take everyone on it when they come to visit. It's a 90 minute boat tour that, as it states, takes you up and down the Chicago River, then out onto the lake. You get the history of Chicago, hear the truth about some urban legends, and it's always a lot of fun. I particularly enjoy it at night, because the view of the Chicago skyline at night is beautiful. Most people think the tour would be better during the day because they can see better. Not true - you can see better at night due to all the lights. It's $20-$23 a person and totally worth it.
We capped off the weekend with Second City. I love Second City. I used to go quite a bit in Detroit because I had ticket hookups with Keegan Michael Key (now a cast member on MadTV) and Maribeth Monroe (cast member on NBC's Thank God You're Here) through my roommate. This particular show was hilarious, and they had a song entitled "I am Socially Awkward," which literally had me laughing until I cried. I've experienced every exaggerated type of socially awkwardness they displayed in the song, and my friend proceeded to sing it the rest of the weekend.
