Another Incident of My Accident Prone-Ness

Last week I tore my toe open and am in an orthopedic shoe and using a cane. Seriously, I feel like I'm 50. One of my friends was suggesting we go get me a walker. =)

It's really not that big of a deal, but certainly in keeping with my bizarre accident prone-ness. I can't just have a normal injury. No...I have to be on a step ladder in my office and fall down. My shoe has to hit the bottom step as my foot is pulled down, sending my shoe flying off my foot and exposing my toes. My office has to have an ancient old step ladder that has about a half inch of space between the steps and the frame, where a sharp piece of metal is located. My toe has to get caught in there on the top stop while I fall down and rip it open and pull it in a very unfriendly angle.

I knew immediately from the amount of blood that I needed stitches. My boss had a room air conditioner going, so I couldn't get her to hear me. Once at the hospital, another laceration that was more serious than mine came in right after me, and I had to wait. I ended up losing a lot of blood before it was all said and done and then couldn't find anybody to come pick me up. I had to walk to the bus stop at the corner, and almost passed out by the time I got there. (All I could hear or think about was Donna Reid's voice, making me eat a a sandwich, several cookies and at least two cups of juice before letting me leave our church's blood drives during college and not letting me drive myself home, because my body would always get funky when I have a change in blood level.) Then the following day, I almost passed out while going to the workman's comp Dr. Geesh.

At any rate, I am doing fine now. I still can't put a lot of weight onto my foot, and exercise aside from a bike or arms/weights is on my Dr's no-no list for me at the current moment. I am (hopefully) getting my stitches off on Wed, just in time to fly to LA to join my friends Josh and Kate as they go on their high school's mission trip to Colorado. We'll start it with fun white water rafting (which I may not get to participate in due to the injury) and end with four days in the Grand Canyon.

So I'm Not Perfect After All...

Today I have had a not-so-great day. I have a big event on Thursday (tomorrow) that I haven't planned before. I made a mistake in not following through on a change that someone asked me to make (although said person ended up doing it, himself) and I just feel stupid because I forgot to do it. I was asked to make a change in a flight less than 24 hours prior to the time of their flight change, so it was an unusual request that should have been made by the person flying, not me. But either way, I feel stupid.

This is my 'therapy' journaling before I get myself pulled together to spend another three hours or so at work, before (hopefully) going to the gym for a workout.

Rex Manning Day

Who's got tickets to New Kids On The Block in October in Chicago? Amy and I do!!!! SSSOOO excited!!!! Insanely excited!!! Pretty sure I'll be downloading their greatest hits and getting my 31-yr-old self ready.

I tried to buy tickets to the original date, but they sold out before they went on sale to the general public. I was SSOOO disappointed, because Chicago was as far west as they were planning to go, with a handful of east coast dates and one Chicago date. I just wanted my Rex Manning Day.
